midi to 8 track

hey guys, i currently own and record on a yamaha md8, it has midi inputs, outputss etc but im not sure if I wiil need a sampler or any thing to produce different sounds (drums, strings etc) as well as a midi keyboard. Basically I need to know whether the keyboard will have these sounds built in or if I need to have an external sampler? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Ummm...of course a keyboard will have sounds on it.

A sampler would be cool as well but only a MIDI controller would have no sounds.
