I am new to computer recording. I have been using a Boss BR8 for tracking until now. I just got Sonar XL 2 on my computer, and I want to sync up my drum machine to it the way I did my BR8. This way a can record separate tracks of snare, kick, etc, and have everything line up. Now, my Soundblaster Live 5.1 soundcard has a connector on it it, and the pin outs label some midi functions. Is there some box or something I need to plug into this , and convert it to a standard MIDI cable? What do I do? Thanks

Yup. It needs a MIDI kit. Simply pluged into the 15 DIN joystick port and come out with 2 MIDI cables called IN and OUT. Then you can sync your gear with MIDI. You can buy the MIDI kit almost at your local PC/multimedia stores for less than $20. (I forget the prices, but I know it's cheap.)
