My keyboard is the master to my drum machine. The keyboard triggers the drum machine to play, like I want it to, butthey don't play in unison (correct time). I have the drum machine set to midi sync on channel one and the keyboard set to local. I even hae the Tempos set to match. any help troubleshooting?

What type of keyboard and what type of drum machine? Are you using MTC MMC or BeatCLOCK to sync the two together? Are you postive the drum machine is set to slave and the keyboard is set Master. Is the drum machine set to Local Off? YOur problem sounds like latency but I doubt that unless theres a computer somewhere in this chain you neglected to tell us about.

Yeah ther's a CPU, the latency is set to 10. And the MPC is set to Midi Clock.

MPC what? 1000 2000 3000 4000

The 1000 only does beat clock....

The 2000 I believe does beatclock and mtc...

I believe the others are capable of all three but i'm not sure.

You might be better off the other way around setting the mpc as the master and the asr-10 as the slave any reason as to why the asr-10 must be master?

its a 2000. no xl just 2000. no paricuar reason, i figured the asr was more pewrful so I would use that as the master. i really have no loyalty to that set up, but why do say it wouldbe easier the other way around.

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't there 2 midi ins and 2 outs on the mpc where the asr-10 only has 1?

Not to mention the sequencer is a little newer on the mpc.

I'd try setting up as follows...

Set the MPC as Master

Midi Out MPC ---> Midi In on Asr-10
Midi Out MPC ---> Midi IN Computer
Midi Out ASR-10 ---> Midi IN MPC
Midi Out Computer ---> Midi in MPC

Turn local control (if any) off on the ASR-10.

I'd try to set everything up to beatclock if you can its just easier to sync things to me it also controls tempo which is what id want it to be doing in this situation...

everything should be a cakewalk afterwards all you have to do is set which track is going where in the mpc.

You can still make patch changes and all on the asr-10 only the midi from the mpc tells in the tone generator in the asr-10 to turn on and off not the asr-10 itself.

ok, still tricky here...I have the connections as you wrote above (though I don't understand why I need the MPC runnining in and out to the asr, but I did it anyway). The MPC is Sync in is OFF and the Sync Out is set to Midi clock and the appropriate out for the ASR. The ASR is set toclock source MIDI, but the ASR isn't being triggered by the MPC. Ideas?

did you set the one of the tracks on the mpc to the midi port to the asr-10?

It's either gonna be 1a or 1b depending on which midi port you hooked it up to.

Make sure the asr-10 is on channel 1 and that the volume is up.

yeah thats all set, but the asr isn't reacting. the sequencer (bars/beats) isn't even moving...

lemme see if i can find a manual for the asr-10.

did you have it syncing in mtc before trying beatclock?

ok. one more thing and then I think i'm good. Now the ASR is instrumnents where I havent placed them in my sequence, any ideas?

I don't understand the question.
