MIDI stutters at beginning of clip

I am running Sonar out to a Roland XV-5080, building loops in fruityloops and then exporting into Cakewalk. However at the beginning of the song, or anytime I create and paste multiple clips to loop, the MIDI info slightly stutters at the beginning of the clip. It does not do this in fruityloops, nor is there any discernable difference in the piano roll transition.

Is Sonar looking to reset some MIDI settings at the start of the song, or at the beginning of each clip? It is quite annoying to have to work around this (though possible).

Thanks for any help,

Kaeyla

My suspicion is that this has to do with the slip editing feature. When you cut off pieces of tracks, the data is actually still there, just hidden. If you drag from either side of the clip you can revive the data. This feature had always worked a bit skronkily, and still does in version 1.3. It seems sensitive to cutting and pasting the clips elsewhere. I suspect that the edge of the clips are not being played quite properly, like it's playing just a little bit of some of the data you thought you had chopped off...

You can make the clip edits permanent by selecting the clip, then choosing Apply Trimming from the Edit menu.

You can also blow up the resolution and drag the leading and trailing edges of the clips a little and see if you can get them to behave better that way.

thanks for your input-

i can see what you mean about not being able to see the overlap of MIDI notes on the main clips, but only in the event editor.

actually my problem was that a lot of needless MIDI info was being expressed at the beginning of every clip (every sys-ex data under the sun.) - this compiled into 4 or 5 tracks was overwhelming the MIDI for about 200ms.

i went into the event manager under the event view and just maually deleted all the needless controllers...and woohoo it was smooth as silk.

SO..my next question is- is there a master setting to turn off MIDI controllers (or import settings for certain events only), so they can be taken care of all at once, instead of doing it manually through the event manger?

I will also be seeing if i can export from fruity loops a simpler MIDI stream, for some reason extra knob tweaks are getting transferred over.

k.
