Okay I just started using Midi and I just got my keyboard hooked up and working properly. When I play the different sounds on play back using my recording software, some of the sounds are nice and some could be better. Is there a way to get different sounds on your software so my keyboard can sound more realistic?

I would also recommend softsynths, or a plug-in virtual instrument and sample CD's of real recorded instruments.

Agree with gentelmen above :) Either Softsynth or Sample will do it good :) In addition, you must also know some tricks about how to make them "sound real". Play them groovie, don't be over-quantized, "think real" when sequence 'em, etc. etc.

I'm using cakewalk home studio 2002. My sound Card is the Delta 66.

I'm just looking for something to help a trumpet, or my piano sounds to sound more real. What do i need to get to do that?

I use Live Synth Pro. It gives soundfonts a more natural ambient sound.

Do yourself a huge favor and pick up a nice tone module or synth unit. The majors like Yamaha and Roland are good choices.

I agree with Jake... JV1010's are dirt cheap these days, it's only 1/2 rack unit with a multitude of great sounds and 1 upgrade slot, with around 20 different upgrade roms available.

Nice, Im going to have to check ebay and see if they have any used ones. Thanks
