MIDI Signal Delay

I have my MIDI Keyboard hooked right up to my sound card and the keyboard has its own power source. When I play it there is a very small delay after i hit the key. I have tried about everything I can think of, I was wondering if its a common problem and if there is anyone out there that han help me.

are you using soft synths?? They quite often have noticable delays.

I am using soft synths.

Will I have to buy a sound module to take care of this problem?
