I think it's been a while since this topic was discussed, so I thought I'd resurrect it, seeing as I'm testing Linux for MIDI.
I have Mandrake 8.1, with the ALSA drivers for my SBLive Value. I have the soundcard working with ALSA, at least I can play a CD through them.
What about soundfonts? I managed to use sfxload to load one into memory, but I haven't worked out what to do with it yet.
And finally, which midi sequencer should I use? I'm using KDE, so I'd prefer a native KDE app if there is one. I tried to compile muse, but failed to get it working. I'm compiling Brahms as we speak, so hopefully that will be installed soon.
So any comments on the topic?
Thanks
