THE PROBLEM: I can't play the keyboard.

THE DESIRE: I want to transfer the preset rhythm on my keyboard to the computer (in midi format), compose the melody with a midi software, and transfer the mix of the rhythm and the melody back to my keyboard.

Is this even possible?

My keyboard has MIDI input and output. My computer does not have them. What hardware do I need to connect the keyboard to the computer?

If you know any articles or threads that I can get the answers from, then that will be great. It'll even be greater if you can give me the answer right away.

Thanks ahead for your inputs.

if it's just one keyboard you want to connect to your keyboard then it should be quite easy.

Your computer is probably equiped with a gameport, and or USB

then you can go gameport transmission and get one of these:

or with USB you can get one of these:

I picked up the gameport wire/set I initially linked new off eBay for $8.00

but now I have more midi devices so I'm looking into 8x8 midi interface- so think about that as well, you may end up expanding- so you should probably at least get a 2x2 midi interface

It also depends on if your keyboard actually transmits the midi data for the internal patterns.
