I just started using cakewalk...and I can't get it to send data to my keyboard. I'm only concerned with it sending data right now, not revieving, and I'm using a usb to midi cable. I've got the output port set to usb midi, and my board seems to be set up right for recieving midi data. Any ideas? Thanks. I got cakewalk to help me with a project that is due in two days. Please help!

What MIDI channels are you sending out from Cakewalk? If you are sending data on MIDI Channel 2 and your keyboard only acctepts data on MIDI Channel 1 that could be the problem...

If you're only recording one track at a time, set the Input to "Midi Omni". :)

You may have to set your keyboard to accept and transmit via USB. I had to do that to my Yamaha anyway. I had the same problem at first. I thought I had it set up right to receive and send. But after a couple of hours of frustration (and some cursing), I finally realized there is a setting for my keyboard to use the USB port.

What's your Cakewalk ? And what's your keyboard ?

;)

Rich...what do you mean you had to set up your Yamaha for USB...I mean, of course the Yamaha has the midi's, so why would it care what's on the other end? But if so, how'd you do it?

I have Pro Audio 9 and a PSR-540, the keyboard is slightly more than a toy.

thanks for the help!

Well, I had to go into the controller options on my keyboard and specify USB manually. Otherwise, it was expecting MIDI from the stanard in-out-thru ports. Once I did that, I was good to go. It took me awhile (I actually had to read the directions) to figure it out.

I doubt it will be the same on your keyboard, but I to set the "Host" to USB.

What kind of keyboard do you have? I have a Yamaha S08, so maybe ours will be similar?
