Hi to all, I am new to this this forum and I've searched for this issue, but coudnt find any specific solution, so please help me out. In SX2, I cant receive any midi signal, i'e. When I play my keyboard, I cant hear anything. If I load a vst instrument and press its keys with mouse, it plays well but not from my midi keyboard. I have checkedout everything and have latest drivers and direct x etc. please guide me what to do. thank you very much in advance.

Have you tried checking out the manual? It's simply amazing how many people have asked this same question in the last few days. The answer is in the manual. The problem is most of all these new members with this problem don't have the manual because they purchased or have been given pirated software. I got an email this morning from a company, not Steinberg, asking me to purchase this same program with many others for a rediculously low price but the catch is you get only the software and not the box it comes in or the manual. So all I can say to you guys is RTFM!

In File>Preferences>Midi Click "Default" under all the different sub headings (3). Then in the main tab make sure "Midi Thru" is checked. When you make a new midi track set the input as "All MIDI Inputs" and the output as whatever you want (VSTi, or your Soundcard). And it should work then. If not maybe try making sure your MIDI cables are set right, and your hardware works.

THanks very much Halo, I'll check it out when I'm home, thanks for your time & help :)

morningstar, maybe you should just help when someone asks rather than getting people to read the manual? failing that, how about you just dont bother coming on here giving blunt replies to people ASSUMING that their software is cracked, etc without good proof, why dont you just ASSUME that everyone on here is reading the manual and dont bother coming on here at all cos there's no need?

Because so many people here don't read the manual and are using cracked software.

I believe reading the manual is an integral part of the learning process and the benefits are priceless. On some software I read the manuals two or three times. I also believe that taking shortcuts and asking questions without doing a litlle bit of research yourself is mindless. After all, look where it's gotten you. I believe this is your reason for not learning how to write music. :o

but i just find that it stumps the creative process when you have to think to much about how to do things.?
