I was wondering if any one knew if the BR-1600 is capable of being used as a MIDI controler ,for use in a PC, running Nuendo?

While I have not used Nuendo, I do have sequencing software running on a Toshiba laptop. I use MIDI extensively with the BR1600 and it works great. I have Magix Studio Deluxe to sequence the midi data. I do NOT use the pc for ANY audio. I have an m-audio midisport USB interface that gets the midi IN and OUT of the PC and TO the peripherals. I sync Magix with the BR, and record drums, bass and other instruments that fit in a particular song. When the BR starts up, so does the sequencer, including following any tempo or beat changes. I use a DR670 Drum Machine for Bass and Drums, and a Roland SC-55 sound module for other instruments. I also have an m-audio midi keyboard controller that is connected via USB to the laptop. I use the keyboard to record strings and other sounds off the SC-55, and ususally just use the DR670 to enter the drums and bass midi. Once the midi data is captured in the sequencer and the sequencer is synched with the BR, everything stays in time. I find this setup to work great.

I also use the sequencer to send Fader data BACK to the BR during mixdown. When you have a bunch of tracks recorded, and you need faders to rise and fall, I use MIDI to record those movements so that they are repeatable EVERY time I mix. Before I used midi, when I'd create a mix with lots of fader movements, and then have to re-mix it after listening to it on other equipment, I found it nearly impossible to 'duplicate' ALL the fader movements. Midi fader control makes this SIMPLE.

You can check some of my other posts in this forum where I've provided some links to stuff I've recorded. All of them use MIDI for drums, bass, and other orchestral instruments or sounds.

Hope this helps.
Steve
