Hi

I have this problem with setting up my soundcard (TerraTec EWX 24/96) with Home Studio 2004 using the WDM/KS drivers. For playing MIDI, i have a choice of using 3 outputs:
- EWX 24/96 MIDI
- Microsoft MIDI Mapper
- NemeSys MidiOut:Port1
I have a electronic keyboard that is connected with my computer. Usually, I select the output of my MIDI to be EWX 24/96 MIDI, in which case the MIDI I record will play on my keyboard speakers. However, when I want to transfer the MIDI to audio files, I need the MIDI to be played using the computer speakers in order to record the music. Currently I cannot do that, since the other two MIDI outputs make no sound with my keyboard OR my PC speakers. Did I set up correctly? or is there something I need to do in order to play my MIDI with the computer speakers?

Thank you very much for any help.

Not true. What you need to do is to connect the keyboard's audio output to the sound card's line input.

Your 24-bit soundcard does not come with a midi synth like the gamer SBLive cards.

However, you can use GM (General MIDI) soundfonts with a soundfont player VSTi (I use Bismark's B-16, but rgcaudio.com's "SFZ" is free) to output your sound through the 24-bit card. The GM soundfont will generate all your MIDI sounds--- and at much better quality than something like an SBLive.

Hammersound.net has lots of FREE soundfonts to use. The larger GM soundfonts (I use Unison and Cadenza... big downloads but remember that the larger the samples the better the quality) sound great.

Check into it.
