Midi or Game USB Port

That would seem to me to be taking the long way around.

Something like this is made for the purpose.

What software are you planning on using --- or does the J-Station come with an editor/librarian?

The J-Station has it's own editing software.

Why would it be taking the long way around?

I think the one of ebay is very similar to the one you posted but the ebay one is much cheaper.

If u get the usb to gameport adapter, u still have to buy a gameport to midi adapter that will run u another $20 plus shipping, its cheaper to just get a usb midi adapter

Something like this or any of these

Why post the question in the first place if you're not going to tell the whole story?

Go ahead and do it your way --- and yes, that cable that you already own will work.

My suggestion for the question: 'I already own the piece of cable that will fit the J-Station end. Will this work for the computer end?'

With that gameport/usb thing, i dont see anything about a midi compatability

Alt - that's what threw me too. But it turns out he has the midi end and was just looking for the cheapest way to get midi in + out of his comp...

.

I would think I should be able to use the midi capabilities of the built in sound card and the usb only acts as a connection. I might be wrong.

yeah but the game port to midi thing assumes that the game port has a MPU401 compatable chip, which is standard on most soundcard chipsets but with that thing, I seriously doubt it would even work
