I am using cubase and logic on my PC with win98 OS.
My problem is that midi information (from my synth etc) will not register in cubase or logic (i.e. I cannot hear what I'm doing) unless I am actively changing midi information (playing/recording with the sequencer, changing the volume levels on the inspector and so on...) in the programme.
I have recently had my change sound card and drivers changed whilst the computer was being repaired. I now have a crystalCS4235. This did not happen before, so I assume that it is these that are somehow causing the problem? If anyone has any ideas I would be very greatful!

Hmmm... just a guess - you need to activate the "thru" of your midi interface??

Also, the sound will come from your midi devices, not from within Cubase......... how do you normally monitor your midi playback?

midi stuff

The midi 'thru' is active on the midi interface, so it must be something else.
I have to put my sampler and synth through a four track and straight through the sound card as my set up is very basic!

drivers

logic has a section to configure your hardware, make sure you use the right setting. It is extremelly important to match your actual hardware with the virtual studio (using the right drivers)
refer to your sound card/midi manual and set it up.
