I am having a problem when looping any MIDI clip. The Audio Engine keeps stopping after 2 - 3 loops...

Same thing when using MIDI filters Session drummer or MusicLab SlicyDrummer...

Is it just me ?

What is your MIDI source? A softsynth? Maybe you're demanding a little bit too much of your compuer, try to turn up the latency. :)

But this is just a MIDI loop. I can play the soft-synths without any problem. Also the CPU meter hardly reaches 10% utilization. I use 5ms latency with M-Audio Firewire 410 on a PIV 2.4GHz...(?)

Those same MIDI loops were playing just fine in Sonar 2...

I will do more testing because MIDI filters are not working well anymore (Ex.: MusicLab SlicyDrummer).

BTW, audio loops, play well...

Is it MIDI Loops like in a MIDI Groove Clip, or is it just a bunch of MIDI clips?

Unfortunately, a single MIDI loop will trash the audio engine.

I guess if nobody here knows about the problem, it must be my install that did not work properly (side by side with Sonar 2).

I will try to remove everything, or better yet, start with a fresh XP install.

It just goes to show that, even coming from reputable companies, software is fragile to say the least...

If any of you are interested, while testing I found sort of a pattern to reproduce the problem.

I use 2 soft-synths from Roland, Orchestral and HyperCanvas.

I created a template for each of those multi-parts synths. When I use the templates, any MIDI loop (just a few notes) will crash the audio engine. No CPU overload.

If I start with an empty template and load the synth afterwards, the loops will play correctly...

Looks like the soft-synths and/or sequences are not initialized properly when they are part of a template...
