i just bought a MIDI keyboard and i want to use it with my Tascam MKII to add rhythms and such to tracks...

problem is, it has a MIDI out on keyboard and the ins on the Tascam are the XLR type..is there a cable available for this? I hope i didn't paint myself into a corner...especially with something as simple as a cable connectivity problem...

any help for this keyboard newbie would be greatly appreciated.

I did read up on this, BUT

thanks for your suggestions, but i have read the posts on this, and none of them seem to be asking what i'm asking. The question is, can i connect my MIDI out on my keyboard (CASIO WK1630AD)directly to my Tascam MKIII, when all the tascam has is XLR and 1/4 inch inputs?

I am not using the computer for recording, nor computer recording software, i am recording directly on my tascam, and want to add percussion and other things to a separate tracks to go with my vocals and guitar etc...

Thanks for any help any of you can provide in your answer.

Which keyboard? I hope you didn't get a MIDI controller...

Go to the MIDI section of this forum and do a search on MIDI basics....wait a sec...

MIDI is only info, not audio. You need to use the audio outs to connect to the tape machine.

jake-owa is right. You need to understand the difference between midi and audio. The only way to use your casio to do what you are asking is to use your line outs from your keyboard into your tape machine.
