Every time I import a standard midi file, it ends up as an instrument track instead of a midi track. This means that I can't set the output to share a single VST in the VST panel. This is extremely annoying, as I need to tie all the tracks to a shared VST. In order to fix this problem, I have to create a new midi track for each track and drag it all down to the new midi track.
Sure, this takes all of five minutes and is incredibly easy, but there has to be at least some way to make it to do this automatically

Instead of importing it, what happens if you just drag the MIDI file from the desktop on to Cubase?

Easely solved:D

Go to File/Preferences/Midi/Midi file and untick Import to Instrument Tracks.

Hey man, thanks a bunch. Lifesaver you are.
Just moved to Cubase from SONAR.
