MIDI file capture?

I am absolutely ignorant of all that I see you talking about. I am here because I am desperate and on searching for a way to capture/record something I found I came across this BBS. For my mothers 90th b'day (June 8) I have written a personalized parody of some Gilbert & Sullivan tunes ( her favorites). I found simple basic instrumental music at site - www.broadwaymidi.com
I can hear it fine, include it in my MS media library and play the playlist forever, but I can find no way to get it out of my computer -preferably on to a CD. I have MS /ME with adaptec burner that keeps telling me format not supported or somesuch. I know this is way below you all but any help - quick0 would be much appreciated.

You'll need to record the midi while it is playing using either the Sound Recorder that comes with Windows, or an external utility such as CoolEdit or Sound Forge. The exact procedure depends on your system, but typically it goes something like this:

Open the midi file. Open your sound recorder. Hit record. Start your midi file. Make sure that your new file is saved as a *.wav.

It would be ideal if you used cool edit or sound forge to edit your wav file & add fades & EQ, but it may not be realistic for the scope of your project.

You'll usually be given choices for sound quality; higher quality means larger files.
