Depends. What do you want to do, and whats your budget?

daydreams

I think I am tired of working with samples when I am composing…it takes a fuc.. long time.
I use the drums in my Roland JV-1010 – they are okay but I wonder whether there could bee a better solution.
Don’t let us talk money – I would like to daydream for a while.

DM5 - Definitely!

I'd say the Alesis DM5 is still a great module....
You don't have to fiddle with the sounds a lot and they have this great "raw" sound to them...

No samples to mess with and they sound really good...

I'd say it depends on the style of music, for example the DM5 is pathetic when it comes to hip-hop drums. But it excels on a country tune.

Roland MC-303 has a lot of useable drum sounds that are more usable for Hip hop/dnb stuff. Can be gotten quite cheap second hand.
