I'm curious to find out what you guys think of the drums, they're from a soundfont I recently bought.

(Decide)

The song itself is mainly a test for using the drums on, please don't mind my bad singing (or the low vocal level for that matter, the vocals completely vanished when I played this song on a friends system :)).
(And if it sounds like I'm just singing gibberish, it's because I am... don't have any words for it yet)

Anyways, I haven't varied the volume of the drums, maybe I should've done that to make them a bit better... and I do think they sound very "static" and digital during the whole verse... but when the drumming intensifies during the chorus I think they work pretty well.

What do you think? What can I do to improve them?
Unfortunatly I don't have the option for live drums...

Oh... and the bass is MIDI too, but maybe it's a bit low? How about that then?

And what about the separation of the guitars, does it work? I only have headphones and computer speakers to work with, so the mix might sound like utter shite on your system... :(

Thanks in advance for any input,

I think the drums sound pretty good. What soundfont is it? And how did you program the drums on the song, and the drums-only MP3? And is the reverb part of the soundfont?

macle

The font is from Sonic Implants (www.sonicimplants.com). It's called "Blue Jay Large Ambient 1" and the reverb is part of the actual recordings from when they made it (they also have one in a less verby room, and one from a dry room).

I did the drum programming by hand in Cakewalk, the intro is a little bit too wild perhaps :), but for the rest of the song I did the best I could to think like a drummer.

I had a feeling it was Sonic Implants. Those are probably the most realistic drum samples I've heard. Great job on programming (regardless of that intro, which is a bit confusing!). In the drums-only file, you can really hear the flams and stuff, sounds very realistic.

Actually, *blushes*, the drums only MP3 is from a Cakewalk file that comes with the font (so you can see how they programmed it). I haven't really put in that much time in programming, for that kind of results you'll have to spend a good while with it... Wish I could have a real drummer and set on standby... :)

Well you can't beat a real drummer (though sometimes, you may want to!) I've got a drum kit, and I play a bit of drums, but it ain't easy (recording or playing). I'm probably gonna try out the Sonic Implants samples myself!! Thanks for the demos!

Thats some nice samples....I never thought Id say this, but I need Implants...

So, to answer my own question - you can live with tha rquality at least for a demo?
What'd you do to make them sound even more natural?
