MIDI device only works on new projects (CUBASE 5.1)

Hi there,

I couldn't find the answer anywhere. I have a windows 7 laptop with Cubase 5.1 with several VTSi. I only use my midi devices as inputs.

The problem is that neither my Akai mpd18 nor my Keystation Mini 32 works the second time I open a cubase project. Both of the devices work when I open cubase for the first time after a windows reboot and I create a new project.

Example : if i open a previous project both of the devices won't work. Then if I close Cubase and reopen the same project (or a new project) the devices won't work.

This is kind of a strange problem and it's really annoying since I have to reboot and copy all my instrument presets and tracks to a new project everytime to get my devices back.

Weird.

Check whatever Cubase calls 'preferences' or 'options' and make sure the two devices are present the second time you open a project. If so, there's always unpluging and repluging both devices. Edit - try this with the program open, then close it and try it again. The program may not do a full rescan of the USB ports the second time around. Also, try going to the Akai website and downloading the most current drivers for both devices.

Post again with your success or failure - I may have some more suggestions...
