midi delay!!

i know this is probably something stupid and easy to fix, im more of a musician than a producer, but there is a delay in my axiom pro 49 midi controller from when i hit the key to when a sound comes out, now this is very slight but is still virtually impossible to record with. there was no delay before i went to pro tools 8.0.1, i was running pro tools 8 and there was no problem.. the midi is set up to USB anyone please help

im using a dell inspiron with 32 bit vista home basic ( i know i know worlds worst OS) with pro tools LE and an Axiom Pro 49

What you are experiencing is called 'latency'.

Make sure when you updated your ProTools software that you're using an ASIO driver. If your system doesn't already have one, download this free ASIO driver and use it to input your Axiom Pro.
