midi delay

i have a small problem with a delay between my keyboard and cakewalk. when i try to record timing is all off. i cant seem to get rid of the delay between when i strik a note till the time cakewalk plays it back. make sense?>?? maybe that i am using the creative live 5.0 joystick / gameport for the midi interface to my keyboard??

What Cakewalk product? What are your computer specs? What sound card (SB Live?)? Is that the only sound card you have?

Sounds like your latency is too high. I'm not sure you will be able to get it low enough with an SB Live. Depending on what Cakewalk product you are using, you might be able to turn off input monitoring, and just monitor the keyboard directly.

Yes, I believe it's hi latency. Do you use softsynth or DXi?
