sorry if this topic has been posted before but i need some advice.

My original plan was to buy a 49 key midi controller (m-audio radium) however after a recent purchase of a computer cabinet, the space I had allocated for it no longer exists!

Now going into plan B and have to buy a smaller sized controller that I can leave on the desktop.

Im leaning towards the Edirol PCRM-30

But others still in consideration are

Alesis Photon 25
ESI Key Control 25
Evolution MK425C
M- audio Oxygen8 , O2 and Ozone
Emu Xboard25

Anyone have any experience/advice to offer me.

I want to use it for programming drums and triggering sounds and playing piano parts…but keep in mind that I haven’t got any experience with recording or midi and would like to buy something and not have to sell it later to “upgrade”

Cheers

If you are skillful enough to use both hands when playing piano parts the minimum size you should even be considering is 49 keys - and 61 keys would be even better. In my opinion you shouldn't let your computer cabinet dictate your keyboard size and rearranging your workspace to accomodate necessary gear is something we've all had to do from time to time.

Here's a link to one you didn't mention but should consider. They also have a 49-key version for $100 less.
