Midi Controller and My Computer

I am intersted in buying a roland pc-300 midi controller to use with Reason 2.0. This keyboard has USB,do I need a midi chord to connect to use the controller or does the info just travel through the USB cable.I only have the soundcard that came with my dell
 
The USB connection is for sending MIDI data to a computer, yes. So a separate MIDI interface is not necessary.
 
thanks that means I can still use my crappy soundcard for the time being
