I been using SONAR 8 Producer (DAW) and Alesis SR 18 (Drum Machine) with a Presonus Firebox (Audio Interface).
So far, I've connected the SR 18 (headphones output) into the Presonus Firebox via a 1/4 (instrument input) with a 1/4 inch guitar chord. I also get good sounds with it with low latency while syncing it up to Sonar 8 (in which all pads from the Alesis SR18 go into 1 audio track on the Sonar track setup).
I would like to do a connection so that each pad on the Alesis sr18 can be set up to go do its OWN track in Sonar. I'm not sure if this would be done via some MIDI connection stuff (and setting changes in Sonar setup)...but thats my guess and I've never done that before! That way of course, I could more easily EQ each pad of the drum set!
I would think there's a way to do this without connecting the SR18 drum machine into a Keyboard Controller, etc. I don't have a MIDI Keyboard Controller, and I don't know if I neeeeed the controller to do this...please help.
