Hi all, just got a Lexicon LRC for my LXP 5 and the midi cables need to be about 15 feet long. Will I get any "loss" of any kind or is it OK to use midi cables this long. Sorry for the nub question, this is my first at anything midi.

Thanks, Jerry

It will work just fine

If I'm not mistaken, I recall seeing a 50 ft limit on MIDI cables back in the 80's.

I guess if somebody built them into the walls of a studio they might end up being long like that.

We had some 25 footers and they worked fine.

if it does become an issue, there are midi repeaters that will allow very long runs.

Thanks for the reply gents. I plan on putting the MRC on my console's desk area and run the cable to the "toy rack" where the LXP is.

As slow as the data is (31250 bits per second), it's just about within the frequency range for a good audio amplifier. :D
