MIDI basics

Ok, I know nothing about MIDI so here goes.....

We've go access to a cheap keyboard with MIDI capability. I want to put down maybe some strings parts or something like that over some guitars and vocals. I've got N-tracks and Fruity Loops.

How do I do this?

You'll need a midi interface cable to tie from your keyboard to your soundcard. When you play your keys it sends midi data to your sequencer which is recordable. When you playback the midi track you can instruct it to playback to your keyboard or play from the soundfonts of your soundcard {if you have any}
