Hi all, I hope somebody can help me with this (hopefully) simple question..

I use CubaseSX at home for multi-tracking but I also use a Fostex FD-4 at my friends house when I want to record some stuff away from home.

In the past I have recorded each track from my Multi-Tracker into my computer but then spent ages getting everything to match up time-wise. But I am working on a new song and I am going to have about 20 tracks (I'm using 4 disks for this song...) to get into the right sequence.

This obviously will be a nightmare, I wish to know if it's possible by using Midi to enable my FD-4 to start playing when I click play on Cubase or, visa versa.

I have only very limited knowledge with Midi (I have two midi cables ready for the job mind you) so if anybody would be so kind as to explain what I have to do in a way a simpleton such as myself will understand it will be very much appreciated :)

Many thanks in advance.

Chris.

**UPDATE**

OK, I've managed to get cubase to start my FD4 running, but -- and this is odd. When I press play using cubase at the start of a song it takes the disk with the FD4 about 23 hours into a song (not bad for a 1 hour disk!!) any ideas hows I can match up Cubase with my FD4 in that 1.01.01.000 in Cubase will also make my FD4 start from the beginning also ??

Thanks again!!

Chris.

Look around for any SMTE Offset settings.

You are setting Cubase to start at 1 hour, 1 min and 1 sec. The start should be 00:00:00:00 unless you want it set for something specific.
