midi& audio latency same?

hi all, i am wondering if midi and audio latency are the sames last month a got a midi controler to play soft synths in h.s.2002, but the latency made tis imposible. i exchanged the controler for a keyboard w/midi outs. my sound card (maya 44) will only go down to 26 m.s. w/the latency slider all the way left. my questio is if i monitor my keyboad sounds through a mixer will the midi data from the midi outs on my keyboard be in sync when its recored into h.s.2002 via a midi interface, so i can change the sounds w/ the soft synths/

- Open your Delta Control Panel and set the DMA Buffers to 128 samples.
- Open HS and go to Options -> Audio
- Hit the Wave Profiler button
- Now set the latency to 2.9 ms
