this is more a "cowboy blues" to me..rather than white boy singin' black man music.

I'm always curious to take backwards stuff, flip it around and see what was really going down....wish I could just do it with my ears:eek:

On a scale of 1 to 10, you get a 6.....not bad...nothing to get up and jump up and down about. lousy fade:p

soooo...I guess I need to listen to your other stuff and see where you are coming from.

why thank ya man...i have to agree with ya..there ain't no way this boy pullin off black music..i ain't tryin' to do that, i'm just playin' from the heart..the sound is a little rough yet, i know this...music is suppose to be real and raw...go ahead and flip that reverse...you'll hear that i'm just ramblin out some more blues..:) thanks for listenin' a 6 out of 10 is great!

ah...I remember your stuff now....Mr. tupperware drumset!! so...what other genres to you explore:D

brother, i play where my hands and mind take me, whether it be down that road or up that hill...what did you think of the sound? was it even in your system or did anything bounce out too much? thanks a lot./

mixmkr- my fade got cut by nowhereradio..it did it to all my tracks...why does it do that? i don't mind the abrupt ending, makes the silly track more silly

This guy is a genius

Hey, this song is pheonominal, noone in there right mind could possibly disagree with the fact that you sir are a musical genius.
everything about your style and dedication REEKS with talent.
if i died and went to heaven i could only hope that your beautiful
melodies would be playing around me at all times. Please dont stop creating, you have a gift from GOD almighty.

wig333 - golly guy, i appreciate your comments..i'm also honored that i was your first post...i like virgins, i hope i didn't hurt ya...you might've gone a little overboard with the compliments, but i can't complain or disagree with ya. i am quite the genius. i emit sounds like fat women emit the smell of butter. thanks for listenin'....do you have any music i could peep at?

I don't get it... it's definitely not blues!

Kinda like a country & western singer trying to do a Doors tune!

Bruce

what is there to get?

It isn't a doors song and i'm not trying, i'm doing and posting and you're responding...thank you very much for listenin'. i've never been compared to a country western singer, it must be the move from New York to Tennessee. :)

wilson- i'm still pretty new at singing and i'm mixing everything with home speakers, so it's hard for me to get levels right..thanks for the comments

Those double Tracked(maybe quadrupled) vocals just aint happening man. This is nice if it's your first attempt at recording and you're using a Dual cassette as a multi-track,but other than that it sucks.

Are you Wig333 also?Just wondering since both of you have the same writing style and neither one of you uses 'capital letters' in your writing. Also the overboard gratuitus comments are a dead giveaway...

On most boards talking to yourself will get you the nickname of a 'Troll'.

yeah, it was my first attempt and i do use a dual tape deck. there's only two tracks of vocals and they are dry. thanks for saying it sucks, i appreciate it. no, i'm not wig333.

I don't think it sucks at all samich.....On the other hand I think it's pretty darn cool...............I do hear the doors comparison though.....except towards the end with just one vocal...That vocal has almost got that "Pavement" sound...BTW, the band pavement.... it's not the stuff on the street I'm talking about...What I mean by that is that you sing a little off key at points but it seems to work some how anyway as if that's what you were going for....At least it sounds like that to me..........Actually it's more like Jim Morrison meets pavement meets G love & the special sauce....Hows that for a comparison?...

I enjoyed the song alot though....So much that I wasn't even really paying attention to the mix....which I did think was a bit rough....Im gonna listen once more.......

Ok I'm listening.....There's a bit of clipping...Don't know what thats from but its there a couple of times when the two vocal tracks are announciated together with force .......

Did you use any compression at all? The vocal could use a bit....It jumps out at you a couple of times e.g. 2:11......

The bass is a tad too loud............

you could eq things a bit more to create more separation...Did you even eq at all? The guitar and bass seem to get a little muddy at times and blur each other out....BUT

The bass has a decent tone.......

I like listening to that kind of stuff.... Thanks

Ok... I couldn't resist. I down loaded the tune and reversed the Into...

"You wen't rolling. Looking for the Dairy-Air...You wen't rolling. Looking for the Dairy-Air...And without a care you took off...(fade)"

Not to bluesy. But I think that was a good tune Samich. Thanks for the post, and sorry if I ruined it, but I just wanted to make sure you weren't trying to program me to put my finger in my bumb in public or something.... =)

Fangar

fangar - i completely understand. thanks for listenin'...i don't get why everyone says it isn't blues...the words/lyrics are taken straight from the book, "San Francisco Blues," by Jack Kerouac and the music is blues guitar and bass...What's the problem? is it because i'm white? thanks again

Nave - sorry for not responding to your comments. i do appreciate you listening and thank you for critiquing. i'm not familiar with the band Pavement, i will check them out to get a an idea of the comparison. i am familiar with the Doors, but i still don't hear the comparison, maybe if i said "yeah" or "baby" after each verse. i don't listen to the Doors and have never sung the blues before, strange that my voice would come out sounding like Jim Morrisons. I am also familiar with G Love, I dig his music and singing style. i am honoured to be compared to him, thanks :)

I do agree with you that the mix was rough...I recorded everything one take and only altered the volumes..no effects, no mixing or mastering. I wasn't shooting for perfection. i just wanted to thow a different style at you guys for critique, only to get poor responses, which is okay and quite expected anymore.

After listening to it a few times i can plainly hear that the vocals and bass are a touch too loud and off key at times...this is no biggie to me, i like the dynamics of the tune. I could've spent numerous hours on mixing it all together to get a more suitable seperation, but lets face it...i am a small time songwriter using the cheapest of gear and besides, i like the roughness and rawness of random songwriting/recording.

Again, thank you for listening and responding. i will look out for your cuts to listen to and critique. take care
