Nave - sorry for not responding to your comments. i do appreciate you listening and thank you for critiquing. i'm not familiar with the band Pavement, i will check them out to get a an idea of the comparison. i am familiar with the Doors, but i still don't hear the comparison, maybe if i said "yeah" or "baby" after each verse. i don't listen to the Doors and have never sung the blues before, strange that my voice would come out sounding like Jim Morrisons. I am also familiar with G Love, I dig his music and singing style. i am honoured to be compared to him, thanks
I do agree with you that the mix was rough...I recorded everything one take and only altered the volumes..no effects, no mixing or mastering. I wasn't shooting for perfection. i just wanted to thow a different style at you guys for critique, only to get poor responses, which is okay and quite expected anymore.
After listening to it a few times i can plainly hear that the vocals and bass are a touch too loud and off key at times...this is no biggie to me, i like the dynamics of the tune. I could've spent numerous hours on mixing it all together to get a more suitable seperation, but lets face it...i am a small time songwriter using the cheapest of gear and besides, i like the roughness and rawness of random songwriting/recording.
Again, thank you for listening and responding. i will look out for your cuts to listen to and critique. take care
