another new test mix,
i want this one spacy, but not too spacy...
drums dry, but with a bit of room character.
this is the 1st of a couple of passes at final mix.
want to make sure the bass sits ok.
vox is panned center, guitars are hard left and right,
plus the guitars have dynamic eq with mid-side processing on them,
so as to 'hollow out' the middle for the vox...
so, i'm not sure what to make of this one,
i'll do some solo'ing on the vox EQ overall, vs the guitars, and see if there is any masking going on.
thanks for the heads up!
heh, you're the first one to mention lack of bass! got tons of bass on playback here...
i'll focus on the eq of the bass, i think i can bring level up, without swamping the low end.
<edit> yep, i found build up at 80hz and 160hz, that was not allowing me to up the level of the bass guitar.
makes sense, to bring those down, bring everything else up, and voila! more bass, less mud.
i use a dynamic EQ for this, waves f6, it's a great tool.
I agree with @Odi and @TalismanRich on this one. The vocal needs to stand out from the guitar somehow without losing the guitar. I think once you solo those together you'll be able to is that out. Also, I like the sound of the bass but maybe lacking a little low end? Sometimes just raising the level will do it. The song definitely rocks man. Good work!
