Mics without pre-amp

Hey guys, I'm looking for a mic for recording vocals. But I'm not thinking about setting up a whole home studio. I'm looking for a mic that doesn't require a pre-amp that just plugs right into my computer. But also something that has decent sound without static and other noises.Any recommendations are greatly appreciated, thanks!

You'd probably want to look at USB mics then.

Just as long as you know, there are better, albeit more expensive, ways to go.
If nothing else, they can always come in handy for Skype.

Static and noise is likely to come by using your computer's (cheap) built-in soundcard, unless you have updated it.

a USB mic is the way to go here. You get the mic-preamp, a/d converter, and phantom power (in the case of a USB condenser) all in one package.

The trade-off is that you'll have a very limited selection of mics to choose from... but it's definitely a quick and easy way to get started.
