how come certain new mics in box with warranty on ebay are hundreds of $$ cheaper than musicians friend? are these mics counterfeit? are they safe to buy?

I's say because musicians friend is attempting to make a HUGE profit in most cases.
In the others where the mic or not said to be new they are more than likely refurbished.
I doubt there is a counterfeiting ring deceiving the buyers on ebay.
I'd say they are about as safe as shopping on ebay.

It could be sort of an unauthorized dealer thing, or an existing dealer dumping overstock under a fake name. Doubtful they are counterfeit, that'd be pretty difficult to pull off I suppose!
Musicians Friend isn't always as cheap as you might think either.
So it could be several things. A brand like Audio Technica could be found at huge discounts at times because of blow out deals they'll have on one particular mic or two.
