I was wondering if I wanted to record on a 4 track in a live situation (all for fun, nothing serious) what type of mics would I need? Could I use the same mics if I was just recording at home? Would it really matter? Also I am looking for very inexpensive mics as money is tight to non-existent. I have seen the Nady SP's advertised used which seem inexpensive. I have looked at some other name brand mics, Shure, AKG, Behringer, etc. In fact Behringer looked good because of the availability of a 3 pk for around $30. Obviously I'm not looking for top of the line and perfect recording.

If you want a dynamic mic, look into the Behringer XM8500A, it's $19.99, and IMO sounds very close to the Shure SM58

Yeah, just get any cheap pack of mics for now and start recording... you can always get better mics if you want later.
