Ok...mics are like donuts. You want two of those, one of those, two of those, blah blah blah...until you have a dozen. However, unlike donuts, you spend a gazillion dollars in the process. You always want a taste for something slightly different.

It also seems, that as I near my time of purchase for a mic, the trek causes me to change my mind over and over agian until the next single purchase of said mic. This is driving me CRAZY! First it was the MD421, then the SM7, then the AT4040...this week, I want the ShinyBox 46. Aaaaagggghhhhhh!!!!! When will it end!!!!

Anyway, for acoustic and vocals, my latest craving is for a ribbon ShinyBox 46. Anybody want to talk me out of it...now is the time.

Thanks for listening to my ramblings. :)

Just don't eat them like donuts. They are too expensive.

I was gonna say that "Shinybox" is just a ploy some marketing guys came up with that plays upon your desire for shiny toys and even incorporates the name "shiny" so that you are subject to the subliminal message just by saying the product name out loud or just thinking about it... but now I want one too. :D

I agree...don't eat them. Plus donuts taste better...

Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm just a few keystrokes away from ordering a ShinyBox 46 ribbon for my donut (I mean mic) collection myself. ;)

Your cravings will end only once you have purchased the 46L and it's on it's way to you!!

Ya know, I really wish their website had a full comparison of the 46 model like they do with the 23 model. By far the 23L sounds the best. I'm sure the 46L is also up there. Don't care much for the 23C.

the difference is that powdered mics just don't work..........

LOL
And I can't get a good sound from a jelly filled.

I like the 'old fashioned' mics myself. I'm all about the vintage gear. :D

You mean stale? :D
No, I mean the brown ones with cinnamon sugar and glaze all over them. They really warm up your recordings...

mmmm...warm recordings....do you think powdered suger in my recordings will help? I was wondering what I could do to sweeten the solidstate pre's I have.

You could melt some cane sugar and dip 'em in that, r, if you're a health nut, dip 'em in honey! ;)
