Microphone terminology

I posted this question over on the newbie forum but hope to get better feedback over here.

What are you guys talking about when you say a microphone is bright, flat, dark, etc??

Is there a website that I can hear the difference between what is bright and what is not?

Bright just means there's lots of treble. Dark means there's less treble. Flat means what comes in comes out -- not bright or dark. Just accurate to the source.
