Recently i ve started doing audiobook recording. I need some advise in choosing a condenser microphone to record audiobook.

My budget is around $50-200 need suggestion? would proably need suggestion on the preamp too if anyone be so kind to guide me :)

Would condenser microphone with a USB be ok to use for audiobook recording?

I ve also look into using a digital recorder e.g. Sony PCM M10

P.S other info on recording audiobook e.g. equipment, software, how to etc... would be much appreciated

THX ;)

With a budget of < $200, a good quality usb microphone might be the way to go.
I've read good reviews on the Blue Yeti ($90) and Blue Yeti Pro ($250) mics.

There seems to be a lot of noisy low budget usb mics on the market, so try to purchase
from a reputable seller who allows returns.

Are you recording speech only, or are you going to have to deal with music/foley?

Used large diaphragm dynamic microphone will foot the bill and stay close to your budget.

I use the Rode NT1A, and about to add an AT 2035 to my selection. However, each of these mics require phantom power. My current pre is the BlueTube DP.

With either of these mics, you will want to make sure to eliminate ambient noise. They will record whatever they hear.

Who are you recording audiobooks for?
