I wasn't quite sure where to post this, but i figured this was the best place.

I currently submix all my drums in my little Behringer MX1604A mixer and send the main outs to the ins on my studiophile 2496 soundcard. I can get decent results this way but I am thinking of upgrading to a multi-in soundcard (probably the Delta 44). I want to be able to run each mic into the mixer and then run it right back out into the soundcard keeping each channel separate so i can later mix the drums in cakewalk. How can i do this? This mixer doesn't seem to have an out for each channel, just a main mix out and an aux out. Do most mixers aside from my "bargain" mixer have an out for each channel in addition to a main out?

Thanks,
Scott

Yeah, "real" mixers usually have channel outs as well as aux busses.

The MX1604A can be used for a four-channel interface, though -- 2 channels from the main stereo bus and two from the aux 3/4 bus.

I would say exactly the same thing that AlChuck just said.......

yeah and if you upgrade to say 8-track you can do the following:

mics in mic-input 1-8
inserts --> to sc input 1-8
out sc --> line input 9-10 (or something)

send channel 9-10 to your stereo out, which goes to the amp for monitoring everything, 'cause you are not able to send channel 1-8 to the stereo out, because you've plugged something in their inserts, without a returning signal.
In fact you're just using the pre-amps from these channels and channel 9 & 10 for monitoring the in - and outputs of the soundcard.
