Not sure how feasible this but here is the question.

One guitar, bass and drums at rehearsal. I want to fatten out the bass and drum sound a bit and thought about micing them up through the PA that is supplied. There is some sort of Peavy PA there. I have Rode NT1a and an SM57. There will be access to a couple of other mics (as yet I don't know what they are).

So is the idea feasable and if so where to position the mics? Live micing the bass and the kick are my first thoughts. Any contributing ideas/suggestions are much appreciated.

Cheers,
Mike.

Not being able to hear the bass drum is a common problem at jams. I frequently mic the bass drum. What you're going to want to do is use the 57, put it inside the drum head pointed towards the beater. Find a good position in that line. Pull it back, more bassy, push it in, more attack.
