Mice!

I'm currently running the mac mouse that came with my Mac Pro, not sure what they call it, it's not the touch but the one with the 360 scroll nub.

I was wondering what most people are using, the mouse I have doesn't really work comfortably for my fine editing needs. I've used one of those large Kensington track balls and recall liking it, but not sure if that's the route to go.

Please chime in with your mouse preference and why.

Once we got a studio cat we don't have any mice at all! :laughings:

The mouse you're referring to is the "Mighty Mouse" I think. They're shite. The scroll ball always breaks, and you have to be a little too precise when it comes to left and right clicking.

I like to use a Microsoft Mouse with my mac, dont know the model number or name. It's your standard left+right buttons, vertical only mouse wheel (shift-wheel goes horizontal), and it has two buttons on the side that I set up so that:

The button on the left shows all windows

The button on the right displays the desktop.

Very handy.

When you start worrying about which mouse to use then you really must have exhausted all yout other gear aquisition possibilities :)

I wouldn't say that now. I wouldn't go as far with choosing a mouse as I would with choosing mics or monitors for example, but ya gotta be comfortable when you're working inside the box. It's nice to be able to work well without half-concentrating on trying to scroll or move your mouse across the screen. Anything that makes the creative process easier.

Logitech MX Revolution...

Had the VX Revolution for a few years which proved to be a really good mouse but slightly too small for my hands. The MX is just a larger, slightly more fully featured mouse which I can see lasting me for another few years. I don't use any of the gimmicky buttons (though they are sensibly designed and placed if I did want them) but the shape of the mouse is very ergonomic and the movement is very sensitive / precise.
 
Oh, man, I had a Trac Ball, it used an optical pickup, my hand fit over it very well. I had it so long, it was from before the scroll wheel era! I LOVED the thing! About six months ago, it got dirty, and I cleaned it with too much Windex, and that was the end of that.

I miss it very much, would love to get another, even without the scroll wheel!
 
Happy MS wireless laser mouse 6000 user here. Last forever and batteries need changing every 5 months or so.
