mic troubles PLEASE HELP

hey, all. i bought a se electronics microphone which came today, its the usb1000a model. i opened it anfd it didnt have the usb it should of been supplied with so i took my printer cable and am using that till my replacement arrives.
though when im recording theres like a buzzing/hissing noise in the background and also it is quite low. somebody suggested i need a newer driver for it? though it wont let me download the one off the se electronics site, can someone help me PLEASE
 
A high noise floor (the buzzing and hissing) is pretty much par for the course as far as USB mics go. There might be some settings you can adjust (e.g. the input gain) that might improve things, but otherwise, it is what it is....

i was thinking that maybe i need a new soundcard?
