Mic to Compressor

Just a lil' question here, just re-routing some things

My MIC into my COMPRESSOR/LIMITER/GATE
out of there into my MIXER on channel 1

that's just as good as having the inserts in the mixer
and mic directly to channel 1 right

(just trying to eleviate certain cables and create a simple route scheme)
 
Actually, you should use the insert for the compressor. It just won't work the way you described. The mic won't have enough gain to drive the compressor not to mention the impedence mis match.
