Hi. I got a studio projects c1 that i use for rap vocals. It's an excellent mic but i would like a mic more suited to the sound for rap vocals. The C1 is a little bit too bright and not as up front as i would like it to be for rap. Does anyone have any suggestions on a mic? My gear list is below.

If this helps, microphone selection should be made based on the combination of the singer's vocal tone and the Mic-Pre being used. The style of music really does not play a part of the formula when making the decision.

If you want to buy another mic, what is your budget?

If I was forced to give you a recomendation, I would say get an EV RE-20.

mic for rapping

I have had good results with the Groove Tube Gt 55, Octava Mc 315 and almost all Cad mic's. I know guy's that good tracks with the Rodes Ntk also. All with in the $200.00 to $500.00 price range and less. With any mic you choose far as tracking rap vocals you need to use a lot of compression going down to tracks and even doing mix down.
