Hello

I am against a deadline and need to go some additional dialog recording very inexpensively. From what I have read I can use sound forge or audition for this purpose.

Now here are some very beginner questions that I would really appreciate the answers.

If I record directly into the computer will the sound be digital or do I have to buy a digital audio recorder for that>

What would be some mic suggestions (keeping the price low) for such work.

Also do these mics come with converters so I can plug them into the sound card or do I have to purchase those separately.

Thank you.

Buy a really cheap Edirol or M-Audio USB/Firewire interface. That'll have your analog-digital converters and microphone preamp. Then buy a Studio Projects B1, MXL V67G or a Sennheiser E835 microphone, plug it in with a 3-pin XLR cable and you're good to go. :)

The Presonus Firebox would be a great all in one solution, with 2 mic preamps (of good quality I might add) and 2 line inputs, as well as monitor controls and headphone amp. It comes with Cubase too so you're covered on software.
