mic recording problems

hey guys,
im using a computer based recording system, and for right now my ONLY input device is one condenser mic. I put that mic in through a new m-audio omni i/o interface into the MIC/INS XLR jack number 1. Everything so far is going fine, The only problem now is that when i put it into jack one The interface only records and recgognizes the left side! When i switched it to the other plug it defaults to the right side. How do i fix things so the mic will record on both left and right?

Wow that's an open ended question, as there are a lot of different ways to do what you're after. Why don't you list all the equipment, hardware and software you are using, from mixers monitors computer soundcard etc. so we can be more helpful.
 
Maybe it's a mono input?
And btw; why do you want to record the same mic-signal on two channels? They're both the same!
