Hey, im looking to get some mics for a studio im trying to put together in my warehouse, which is built into somewhat of a studio. Anyways, the first mics im going to get are going to be based on what i need for drums.

Im thinking of getting 2 mxl 603's for overhead, an akg d112 as a bass drum mic, and i already have an sm-57 i could use on snare. As of now im probably going to stick with those 4, and maybe get another sm-57 or two. Do you guys have any suggestions. all those mics are in my price range too.

Im also looking for a good start up vocal mic, because i dont really have the money right now to get mics for all different styles of sining. Im pretty much going to be recording rock, alternative, punk, and stuff in those genres. I can spend maybe a couple hundred on a vocal mic. Or maybe buy a few mics for 100 each or something. I dont know. Let me know what you think ok. thanks

I'd pick up a couple more 57's and a large diaphram condensor. An LDC out in front of the kit can add a lot of meat to drums.

Great choices to start with! As Track Rat said, snag a LDC or two.
The Studio Projects B1 is an amazingly good LDC, at only $79-85 a pop. IMHO, they're nice as room mics, vocal mics, overheads, guitar amp mics, and lots of other things.

Falopo, i agree with your decisions on mics and agree with the others about getting a LDC......

you can get a Marshall MXLv67 or MXLv93 (same as 2003), both under $100....also the SP B1 is a good mic also.....

well i had a few things in mind, but the most recent thing i was thinking of getting is the fostex vm200 mixer, and for a vocal mic pre, i was going to get the studio projects vtb-1 pre amp.

vtb-1, another great choice...we keep hearing the price is gonna drop in the next few weeks to ~ $130...wait for it.....
