Hey all,

I have a question about the mic pre's that came installed in a Soundworkshop Series 1600 Mixing Console. The question is how do i determine things like head room and such by looking at the specifications for the preamp?
The preamps are Trans-Amp LZ Transformerless Preamps
The specs provided are as follows:

GAIN RANGE - Adjustable from 10dB to 60dB
MAX. INPUT LEVEL - +12dBv
NOISE FIGURE - @ 60dB gain - 1dB (EIN= -129.8dBv RE .775V)
DISTORTION - IM = .006% at +22dBv out into 600 ohms
THD - @10 Hz. = .006% at +22dBv out into 600 ohms
@1 KHz. = .006% at +22dBv out into 600 ohms
@10 KHz. = .010% at +22dBv out into 600 ohms
@20 KHz. = .020% at +22dBv out into 600 ohms
FULL POWER BANDWIDTH - 1Hz to 150KHz at any gain setting
SLEW RATE - 13 V/mSec.
C.M.R.R. - Typically in excess of 100dB
OUTPUT CAPABILITY - +22.5dBz into 600 ohms or greater
SOURCE IMPEDANCE - 50 to 600 ohms (for optimum noise performance)
INPUT IMPEDANCE - Greater than 10K ohms
OUTPUT IMPEDANCE - 22 ohms

the other stuff is power req. and dimensions.
i have done a considerable amount of searching on the net to try and find something that will educate me on these terms and figures, with little luck if any.
can someone enlighten me??
and if someone out there can show me a comparison of this and another good mic pre, to get an idea of how good these pre's are, i would be much obliged.
thanx alot!
Mike...
