Howyadoin,

Anyone have a recommendation for a mixer with good pre's for my Delta 1010 rig? I need phantom power and combo TRS/XLR would be good.

I've looked at the Alesis Studio 12R, the reviews say it's pretty solid for what it does, which happens to be what I need :) One person I talked to said the Alesis preamps were "cheap", and recommended a Mackie 1402. I'd like to do this deal in the <$400 range, which the Mackie is not. However, if I add another Delta, the Mackie 1604 might not be a bad choice, no?

Thanks guys!

What is nice about the Mackie 1602 and 1642 is that they have 8 direct outs, so you can connect upto 8 Mackie preamps directly to channels in the Delta 1010. I understand you can also use the "inserts" on the 1402 as direct outs by using TRS cables and inserting to only the first click to accomplish the same thing. The Mackie preamps also have lots of clean gain and are known to be very good. It is a good combination and gives you lots of routing options for your monitors, and what not.

Never mind...

Howyadoin,

Like we say here in Boston, I gotta offa I cudent refuze...

I did some calling around and found an Alesis Studio 24 brand new on clearance for $299... Very nice rig for the money! I'm getting to a position where I can't blame the gear anymore :)

I'll let youze all know how the marriage works out
