Hello all,

Does anyone have a review of the FocusRite Liquid Channel:
http://www.focusrite.com/products.asp?iRange=1

I am looking to get into a pro quality mic-pre /compressor/EQ. Was going to go with an Avalon, and am considering the FocusRite Liquid as they claim they've succesfully emulated 100's of vintage mic pre-amps.

Looking to use the pre-amp primarily for vocals, but would also be used on guitars, bass and other instruments.

Thanks in advance for any feedback reviews you may have to share.

Everyone that I've heard who's used it thought it was a very poor substitute for any of the preamps it tries to emulate and the unit will probably decrease substantially in value in the coming years (compared to the avalon, which will likely retain its high resale value). Do a search over at www.gearslutz.com for such reviews. My opinion is, get the best mic and preamp you can get for your needs. Modeling technology is improving, but it still isn't there.

This one is easy.

New price: $3200
Slightly used on ebay: $2200

That pretty much tells the story.

The only accurate sound this produces is that of a focusrite product.

I heard the Behringer preamps sound like focusrites. and for less money.

Nope, not even close. Even the Focusrite Platinum series has a more open sound than Behringer preamps do. Also, much better noise floor.

NO, don't buy this piece of shit. $2200 for a digital EMULATION pre-amp? hell no! for approx the same amount you can get an API 3124+ and when you sell it (if ever), you will sell it at about 90% of the original price. Buy the real deal.
